Forever home

This project involved the complete refurbishment and extension of an existing 1950’s semi detached house in Rathfarnham. The clients have three young children and wanted a comfortable and contemporary home that they could grow into as a family.

Connection to the garden was very important in designing this home. Our brief was to create an open plan kitchen living and dining space that would be the main living space for the family.
Practicalities were also really important, we created a separate laundry and pantry as well as a bespoke cloak store off the hall. There is no TV in the open plan space so we extended the existing front sitting room to make it a comfortable space where all of the family can sit together, relax and watch TV.

At first floor we extended over the garage to create two bedrooms for each of the little boys with a shared en-suite. We added a walk-in wardrobe to the master bedroom and designed a generous bathroom with bath and shower. The attic was also extended to include a dormer which meant that the family gained a spacious fifth bedroom with en-suite.
